Scott Watson - the final chapters?

Some readers here will know that my interests with wrongful convictions was part of the reason to start this blog. I never imagined it might one day tick over to an accumulated total of a million visits. With popular visits to the late painter John Poynton, but with perhaps the largest being the Miscarriages of Justice which have seen the light of day here with all but one the Scott Watson case yet to see a complete remedy and with another Mark Lundy at the "new" CCRC.

The last little period of time has resulted in the whole case against Scott changing, after managing to have the Crown put on notice that the Watson case is indeed a Miscarriage of Justice, that it has known about from the beginning.

I expect now we will see the destruction of the entire case by material on the Crown's early files. Fairly, and possibly naively, I have come to the opinion that the Crown as it has changed personnel in the last 28 years has "lost", the facts of how police and the Crown deliberately ensured Scott was convicted on false evidence that it knew about from its own files - if looked at clearly by one generation of Prosecutors and Crown Law Officials, replacing another. I extremely doubt that was ever a "hand over" situation but something the pioneers of this false conviction thought was well hidden. It wasn't, such was the arrogance of those that plotted and carried out this miscarriage of Justice - with all its obvious flaws.

However, now it has been returned to the Crown today - by an outsider. What does it do, bury its head or cough up loudly? The very thing police like to see of others, but in some cases not of its self. I don't know how far this will go, but I hope that prison doors might close on the perpetrators of the crimes brought by police against Scott and his family. And indeed, a large portion of the public that view this case as a Miscarriage of Justice - one of the worst.
